The Spring groundwork has paid dividends and now it’s time to enjoy the fruits of your labour. While you are sharing in the tapestry of colour, form and scent with friends, family and the local wildlife, remember that your oasis is a living thing and still demands attention!
Lawn care
Lawns will need a weekly cut, edges kept well trimmed and a liquid feed could be applied to give you some added oomph for a special occasion (or just to make the neighbours jealous!). If you have utilised my lawn management programme you will now be sitting back and admiring your lawn in all its glory.
If you love a beautifully manicured lawn but don't have the time to invest in its upkeep, use my services to fill in when you can't find the time.
Hedge maintenance
Certain hedges such as lonicera and privet will require periodic trimming, although plants such as hornbeam and beech will invariably require a trim in midsummer.
With a mid-season trim your hedges will remain perfectly groomed throughout the main season. I am only a phone call away and with all of the right equipment, attaining perfection couldn't be simpler.
Border management
Throughout the summer season gaps will appear once early flowering plants have finished their display. Cannas, dahlias and other exotic plants can replace the earlier flowers once all risks of frost have passed – probably at the beginning of June. Plants requiring support will need to be staked and established shrubs, perennials and newly planted annuals will appreciate a general-purpose feed. Regular deadheading to encourage a second display of flowering along with the inevitable weeding, are all part of the regular upkeep of a summer garden.
If you prefer to sit back and observe the glory of your garden right now then engage me to give your garden a summer spruce up to keep it looking splendid for longer.
